Physical State-
Materials can exist in three physical states. They are
solids, liquids, and gases.
Solid:
i) Particles are very close to each other.
ii) The force of attraction between the particles are very
strong.
iii) the space between the particles is very less.
iv) The strong force between the particles do not allow them to move freely.
v) Solids have definite volume and shape.
Liquid:
i) Particles are not so closely packed like solid substances but closer than gaseous
substances.
ii) The force of attraction between the particles are not so strong like solid.
iii) The distances between the particles is bigger than solids but lss than gases. Iv)
They can flow.
v) They have definite volume but do not have definite shape.
vi) They take the shape of the container in which they have kept.
Gas:
i) Particles are very far from each other.
ii) The force of attraction of attraction is least in gas.
iii) The distance between the particles is highest in comparison to solids and liquids.
v) They can flow easily.
vi) They do not have definite volume or shape. They take the shape and volume of the
container.
