Lesson Notes
Structural organisation:
All living organisms are made up of cell.
Cell divides further to form new cells.
A cell is the basic building block of all living organisms.
Living organisms are either unicellular or multicellular.
Organisms made up of only one cell are called unicellular organisms.
Example- Amoeba, paramecium, bacteria, etc.
Organisms made up of more than one cell are called multicellular organisms.
Example- Man, dogs, mango tree, etc.
Bigger the living organism, greater the number of cells present.
Unicellular organisms Multicellular organisms
Growth
All living organisms grow.
Growth is increase in size and volume of the body.
Living organisms grow and growth is the result of internal division of cells or
increase in the size of cells.
Animals stop growing aftersometime.Their body however undergo a series of
development and become mature.
Plants grow throughout their life.
Non-living things do not grow but may show increase in size or volume due to the
addition of materials from outside.
