                                                     Lesson Notes

              Structural organisation:

 All living organisms are made up of cell.
 Cell divides further to form new cells.
 A cell is the basic building block of all living organisms.
 Living organisms are either unicellular or multicellular.
 Organisms made up of only one cell are called unicellular organisms.
                     Example- Amoeba, paramecium, bacteria, etc.
 Organisms made up of more than one cell are called multicellular organisms.
Example- Man, dogs, mango tree, etc.
 Bigger the living organism, greater the number of cells present.

                      Unicellular organisms Multicellular organisms

              Growth

                  All living organisms grow.
 Growth is increase in size and volume of the body.
 Living organisms grow and growth is the result of internal division of cells or
increase in the size of cells.
 Animals stop growing aftersometime.Their body however undergo a series of
                     development and become mature.
 Plants grow throughout their life.
 Non-living things do not grow but may show increase in size or volume due to the
                     addition of materials from outside.
