Grasslands are open land spread over large areas.
They are found in regions which have either hot or cold climate marked with little
rainfall.
In South America they are known as pampas, in South Africa they’re known as velds.
Prairies are found in North America which means meadows or grasslands. It is the
largest and the biggest wheat growing region in the world.

Prairies lie in the middle of the North America and extend from Canada in the north to
Mexico in the south and from the Rocky Mountains in the west to the Great Lakes and
the river Ohio in the east.
The region experiences extreme climatic conditions with hot summers and cold winters.
The Mississippi and Missouri rivers flow through prairies.
Very few trees grow on the prairies. Grasses grow in spring and by autumn they turn to
hay.
Coyote, badger, fox and prairie dog are some animals found in the prairies.
