Latitude is a geographic coordinate that specifies the north–south position of
a point on the Earth's surface.

Features of latitudes:
 Imaginary lines running from east to west on the Earth.
 Distance between lines of latitudes are equal.
 They are parallel to each other
 They are also known as parallels of latitudes.

 The end points are the North Pole and South Pole.
Special latitudes:

Equator - It divides the Earth into two equal parts.

 Tropic of Cancer- The latitude at 23 ½ °N.
 Tropic of Capricorn- The latitude at 23 ½ °S.
 Arctic Circle- The latitude at 66 ½ °N.

 Antarctic Circle- The latitude at 66 ½ °S.
