P. 3
Example 1: Is it possible to form a triangle whose sides are 5cm, 8cm and 15cm.
Solution: The sum of the length of the two smaller line segments = 8cm + 5cm =
13cm.
The length of the longest line segment = 15cm.
Sum of the two smaller line segments < the length of the longest line segment.
So, it is not possible to form a triangle.
Recap:
Types of Triangles according to the angles:
According to the angles the triangles are divided into 3 types they
are as follows:
Acute-Angled Triangle.
Obtuse-Angled Triangle.
Right-Angled Triangle.
o Acute- Angled Triangle: A triangle formed by all angles measuring less than
90˚ is also known as an acute triangle.
Example: In an equilateral triangle, all three angles measure 60, making
it an acute triangle.
