Page 2 - Note Solutions
P. 2
Step 4: Add sugar and mix it well.
Step 5: lemonade is ready.
Here in the experiment:-
Solute: - sugar and lemon juice are solute which will dissolve in water
Solvent: - Water is the solvent in which solutes will mix
Solution: the mixture of solute and solvent
* How does the solute mix in water?
The solute particles break up into individual particles and then fill the empty spaces
between the water molecules.
Common examples of solution we can see at home are:
Coffee or tea
Sweet tea or coffee (sugar added to solution)
Any juice
Saltwater
Dishwater (soap dissolved in water)
Carbonated beverages (carbon dioxide dissolved in water is what gives sodas their fizz)
Powdered drinks(Glucose, Rasna)
Soluble and Insoluble
Soluble Insoluble
The solute which mixes with the solvent The solute which does not mix with
(water) to form a solution is called soluble in solvent (water) and settle down at the
water. bottom of the container is called
insoluble in water.
Solutes that are soluble are salt, sugar. Solutes that are insoluble are sand, chalk.
Gases soluble in water are oxygen and Gases insoluble in water are hydrogen
carbon-di-oxide. and nitrogen.
