agriculture?
Ans.
i) Inputs in agriculture are seeds, fertilisers, machinery and fertiliser.
ii) The processing in farming system involves some of the operations like
ploughing, sowing, irrigation, weeding and harvesting.
iii) The outputs in the farm system include crops, wool, dairy and poultry products.
4. Nomadic herding is a traditional form of live stock management practiced by nomadic
communities. Explain this type of farming. Which factors govern such type of agriculture?
What are the products?
Ans. It's a type of farming in which people move from place to place for fodder and
water, along defined route.
This type of farming is governed by climatic constraints and terrain.
The products are milk, meat, wool, hides and other animal products.
5. Write any three points of difference between subsistence farming and commercial farming.
Ans.
i) Subsistence farming is done for farmer’s own consumption/Commercial farming
is done for the market to get profit.
ii) Farm size is small/farm size is large.
iii) Follow traditional method of farming with simple tools/follow modern method of
farming and highly mechanised.
iv) Use of organic manure/ Use of chemical fertilizers
6. Give any four characteristic features of plantation farming. Name any two plantation crops
grown in India.
Ans. Four characteristic features of plantation farming:
i) A single crop is grown in large scale for profit
ii) Depends up on skilled labour.
iii) Large amount of capital is required.
