Sub topic- How Foreigners Named India

               Persian Influence:

                       ▪ The Persians referred to India as "Hind," "Hidu," or "Hindu" (6th
                          century BCE).

                       ▪ These names are adaptations of "Sindhu" (Indus River).
                       ▪ In ancient Persian, "Hindu" was a geographical term, not a religious
                          one.

               Greek Influence:

                   ▪ The Greeks named the region "Indoi" or "Indike," based on the Persian
                       term "Hindu."

                   ▪ The initial letter "h" was dropped because it didn’t exist in the Greek
                       language.

               Chinese Influence:

                   ▪ The Chinese referred to India as "Yintu" or "Yindu," derived from

                       "Sindhu."
                   ▪ Another Chinese term, "Tianzhu," was also used, which could mean
"heavenly master," reflecting respect for India as the land of the Buddha.

               Hindustan:

The term "Hindustan" was first used in a Persian inscription around 1,800 years
ago.Later, it became the term used by invaders to describe the Indian
               Subcontinent.

               Xuanzang:

A Chinese traveller who visited India in the 7th century CE.

Spent 17 years in India, collecting Buddhist texts and meeting scholars.

Translated manuscripts from Sanskrit to Chinese.

Foreigners named India based on the region’s geographical features (Sindhu
River).Different cultures (Persian, Greek, Chinese) adapted the name "Sindhu"

in their own languages. The term "Hindustan" has a long history, dating back to
               ancient Persian inscriptions.
