CHAPITRE – 2 ALLONS A LA CAFETERIA!
Pluriel des noms (Plural of nouns)
1. Most nouns made plural by adding 'S' to a singular noun:
Ex. Le/un bonbon- les/des bonbons
La/une fille - les/des filles , le/un garcon - les/des garcons
2. Nouns ending with S, X, Z in the singular, do not change in the plural.
Ex.
Le/un fils - les/des fils – Son
le/un journal -les/des journaux- News Paper
Le/un signal -les/des signaux- signal
le/un cheval-les/des chevaux- Horse
3. Nouns ending with eau and eu normally take –X, in the plural:
Ex.
Le/un gateau -les/des gateaux-- Cake
Le/un feu -les/des feux - Fire
L'eau- les eaux
4. Certain nouns ending with OU take -X in the
La/une croix- les/des croix – Cross
Le/une nez - les-des nez - Nose
5. Most of the nouns ending with -al take -aux in the plural.
Le/un bijou - les/des bijoux – Jewelry Le/un caillou -les/des cailloux - little stone
Le/un chou - les/des choux- Cabbage
Second group of verbs - IR verbs
Most verbs whose infinitive ends with ir belong to this group.
