                   3.  La Paris est la capital de la France. Paris is the capital city of France.

                   4.  La Paris est aussi appelé la ville de lumière. Paris is also called city of Light.

                   5.  Les Français celebrent la fête national le 14eme (Quatorzième Juillet). National day

                       celebrated on 14th of July.

                   6.  La fête national est aussi appelé le Jour de Bastille. National festival is also called Bastille
                       Day.

                   7.  L'hymne national (national anthem) est La Marseillaise. Marseillaise is the national
                       anthem.


                   8.  L'Euro est la Monnaie unique europeene. Euro is the common European currency.

                   9.  Les Fromages (Cheese) Le Camembert, le Roquefort, le Brie, le Gruyere. Varieties of
                       cheeses like camembert, Roquefort, brie, gruyere.


                   10. Les vins (Wines) Les Bordeaux, le Bourgogne, le Beaujolais.

                   11. Since 2002 French franc replaced with Euro.

                   12. La monde francophone - French is the only language after than English spoken in five

                       continents. More than 150 million people speak French as their native tongue and

                       millions of other uses it as a second language. These people make up what is known as

                       le monde francophone. The French speaking world. Some of the countries where French
                       is the official language or mother tongue are L'Algérie (Algeria), le Belgique (Belgium), la

                       Suisse (Switzerland), le Luxembourg.


                   Roles of the accents

                   You must have notice that there are marks over some of the French letters. These marks
                   are called accents and they play an important role in the French pronunciation and

                   meaning.

                   1. Accent aigu - (/) it comes on vowel e to change the sound ehhtoayy.  (Journée) (marché)

                   2. Accent grave - (\) it comes on vowel a, e, u but changes the sound of e only( aee). (Père)


                   3. Accent circonflex - (^) it comes on all the vowels like a, e, i, o, u, but no changes in
