CLASS-3
LN – What is inside the Earth?
Learning Objective - Students can name and describe the layers of the interior of
the Earth.
Internal Structure of the Earth
The structure is made up of different layers: the
crust, the mantle and the core.
Internal Structure – Materials that make up the
inside of the Earth.
External Structure – Materials that make up the
surface of the Earth.
Crust – The outer layer of the Earth. It is made up of rocks.
Mantle – The layer of the Earth below the crust which consists of
magma. It is about 3000 km deep.
Core – The centre of the Earth. It is about 3400 km thick. It is made of
metals like iron and nickel.
Learning Outcome - Students learnt about the different layers of the interior of
the Earth.
Let’s do an activity:
Children will draw the internal structure of the Earth and label it.
