LN – LIGHT RAYS AND RAY DAIGRAM

Learning Objective: Students can understand that light travels in straight lines
and this can be represented with ray diagrams.

               1. What is a Ray?

                   - A narrow beam of light

                   - Travels in a straight line

               2. Ray Diagram

                   - A diagram that shows the path of light rays

                   - Helps us understand how light behaves

               3. Types of Rays

                   - Incident ray (hits an object)

                   - Reflected ray (bounces back)

               Importance

                   - Helps us understand how we see objects

                   - Useful in understanding reflection and shadows

               4. Example

A girl is looking at a tree in daylight.

The light that travels from the Sun to the

tree is called the incident ray.

The light that bounces off the tree and

reaches the girl's eyes is called the reflected
               ray.
