                                           LN-Properties of multiplication

               Learning Objective:

By the end of the lesson, students will be able to:

                   • Understand and apply the Commutative, Associative, Identity, and Zero

                       properties of multiplication.

                   • Use these properties to solve multiplication problems and explain their
                       reasoning.

                   1. Commutative Property of Multiplication

                   • Definition: The order of the numbers being multiplied does not change
                       the product.

                   • This helps develop number sense by recognizing that numbers can be

                       rearranged when multiplying.

                   • Example:

                          o 4 × 3 = 12

                          o 3 × 4 = 12

                   • Real-life Example: If you have 4 groups of 3 apples or 3 groups of 4
apples, you still have 12 apples.

                   2. Associative Property of Multiplication

                   • Definition: When three or more numbers are multiplied, the way they
are grouped does not affect the product.

                   • Students will recognize that multiplication can be performed in any

order of grouping without changing the result.

                   • Example:

                          o (2 × 3) × 4 = 24

                          o 2 × (3 × 4) = 24
