LN- Narrative & Dialogues
Learning Objective:
By the end of the lesson, students will be able to identify and use simple adverbs in narratives
and dialogues to describe how, when, and where actions happen.
Introduction:
1. Begin with a quick review of verbs (action words).
2. Introduce adverbs as words that describe verbs – they tell how, when, or where an
action happens.
3. Use simple, clear examples on the board:
o How: She runs quickly.
o When: He arrived yesterday.
o Where: The cat sleeps here.
4. Ask students to identify the adverb in each sentence and explain what it tells us.
Narrative & Dialogue Integration
1. Mini Writing Task:
Students write a short 3–4 sentence narrative or dialogue using at least three
different adverbs (one for how, when, and where).
Example:
“I looked around nervously. The door creaked open slowly. I stepped inside, not knowing
what I'd find. It was midnight.”
2. Sharing:
Have students read their mini-stories or dialogues aloud in pairs or to the class.
Encourage expressive reading to highlight the adverbs.
