               Objective
               • Students will understand the features of the fantasy genre and the role of descriptive verbs in
               creating vivid imagery.
               • Students will be able to identify and use descriptive verbs to enhance writing within the
               fantasy genre.

               Introduction
               • Introduce the fantasy genre and its key features, such as magical elements, mythical creatures,
               and imaginary worlds.
               • Explain that descriptive verbs are action words that help create vivid mental images, especially
               in a fantasy setting.
               Examples and Discussion
               • Provide examples of fantasy features:

                     Magical elements (e.g., "A wizard cast a spell that made the sky glow.")
                     Imaginary creatures (e.g., "A dragon soared through the sky, its scales shimmering.")

                     Unusual settings (e.g., "The enchanted forest was filled with trees that whispered.")

               • Discuss how these features contribute to the world-building in fantasy stories.
               • Provide examples of descriptive verbs:

                     Instead of “The dragon flew,” use “The dragon soared through the sky.”

                     Instead of “The wizard walked into the room,” use “The wizard strode into the room, his
                       cloak billowing.”
                     Instead of “The forest was dark,” use “The forest loomed dark and eerie.”
                       • Discuss the importance of choosing the right verb to create a stronger image for the
                       reader.
               Activities
               • Fantasy World-building: Students will work in pairs or groups to create a fantasy scene using
               at least three fantasy features and five descriptive verbs. They will then share their scenes with
               the class.
               • Verb Transformation Exercise: Students will take a simple sentence and enhance it by
               replacing basic verbs with descriptive ones (e.g., “The knight walked into the castle” becomes
               “The knight strode into the castle, his armor clanking with every step.”).
               Learning Outcome
               • Review the key features of the fantasy genre and the role of descriptive verbs in bringing the
               story to life.
               • Encourage students to incorporate these features and descriptive verbs into their own writing
               to make their stories more engaging and vivid.
