LN-Changing Shadows
Learning Objective: Children will learn about how shadows can change
and learn about how shadows change their size
and shape.
Explanation: A shadow is formed when light from
a light source is blocked by an object. Shadows
can change depending on the position of the light
sources. As light moves towards the object, the
shadow becomes longer, larger, and wider. As
light moves away from the object, the shadow
becomes smaller, shorter, and thinner.
ACTIVITY-1
• The teacher will conduct an activity called” Shadow Puppet Show”.
• First the teacher will ask the children to
make stick puppets by using chart paper
and popsicles.
• Next the teacher will make the classroom
dark and flash a torch light towards a wall.
• The children will show the puppet towards
the wall and create a story by showing and moving the shadows of
their puppets.
• The whole class will take part in this shadow act and observe
when you change the position and direction of the source from an
object the shadow changes its size and shape.
