LN- Introduction to time (Analogue clock)

Learning objectives: Students will be able to understand the clock and

               parts of a clock.

Time – Time the measured or measurable period during which an
action, process, or condition exists or continues.

Analogue clock - A clock or watch that contains moving hands and
hours with markings from 1 to 12 to show the time is called as an
               analogue clock.

In an analogue clock it has 3 hands.

                   (a) Hour hand - Each day is made up of 24 equal parts, called
hours. The shorter hand on the clock points to the number that
tells us the hour. When the hour hand is pointing between two
numbers, this means the hour is represented by the previous

                       number.

                   (b) Minute hand - The minute hand is the
long hand. There are 60 minutes in an
hour so there are 60 ticks around the

edge of the clock face to represent those
minutes. Starting at the 12, count the tick
marks clockwise (to the right) down to the
minute hand to see how many minutes have
passed. In between each big number are

five ticks, so you can also skip count by 5’s.

                   (c) Second hand - The hand that moves

relatively quicker than the other two hands is the second hand.

Learning Outcome: - Students were able to identify the hour hand and
minute hand on an analogue clock.
