Explanation:
Skimming
Skimming is like taking a quick look at a book or text to get an idea of what it's
about.
When we skim, we:
1. Look at the title and pictures
2. Read the headings and subheadings
3. Glance at the first and last sentences
Skimming helps us decide if we want to read the whole text.
Scanning
Scanning is like searching for a specific piece of information in a text.
When we scan, we:
1. Look for keywords or phrases
2. Search for specific information, like a name or date
3. Move our eyes quickly over the text to find what we need
Scanning helps us find the answers to our questions quickly.
