P. 2

Chord -The line segment joining any two points on the circumference of the circle.
Diameter is the longest chord of a circle which passes through the center of the circle.

In the given circle with ‘O’ as the centre, AB represents the diameter of the circle
(longest chord), ‘OE’ denotes the radius of the circle and CD represents a chord of the
               circle.

Diameter-A line segment having both the end points on the circle. It is twice the length
               of radius i.e. d = 2r. From the diameter, the radius of the circle, r = d/2.
Arc – It is basically the connected curve of a circle

Minor Arc: An arc that is less than half of the whole arc of any circle is known as
               its minor arc.

Major Arc: The arc which is greater than the half of a circle is known as the major arc of
               the circle.

Semi-circle: A diameter of a circle divides it into two equal arcs. Each of the arcs is
               known as a semi-circle.
So, there are two semi-circles in a full circle. The degree measure of each of the semi-
