P. 2

⇒ a x +b =0

                ⇒a x = −b

               ⇒ x = −

               NOTE:

                   1. The number of zero of a linear polynomial is 1 because its degree is 1.

                   2. The number of zeroes of a quadratic polynomial is 2 because its degree is 2.
                   3. The number of zeroes of a cubic polynomial is 3 because its degree is 3.

                                                      th
                   4. The number of zeroes of a n degree polynomial is ‘n’ because its degree is
                       ‘n’.

               NOTES:

                   1. The zero of a non -zero constant polynomial does not exist.

Example: Zero of -5 is ________________.

                     2. Zero of a zero polynomial are each and every real number.
                     3. Every real number is a zero of the zero polynomial.
