Thallophyta
• Thallophyta is the first division of plant kingdom.
• It consists of red, green and brown algae.
• Basic and elementary plants with undifferentiated body parts (thallus type).
• Reproduce through spores.
• They don’t have a lot of differentiated structure.
• examples: Spirogyra, Chara, Ulva, Ulothtrix, etc.
Bryophyta
• Bryophyta is the second division of plant kingdom.
• These are the first plants to have differentiated roots and shoots.
• Plant body is differentiated into stem and leaf like structure.
• Vascular system is absent, which means there is no specialized tissue for
transportation of water, minerals and food.
• Found on both land and water therefore known as ‘Amphibians of Plantae
kingdom’.
• Examples: :- Moss (Funaria), Marchantia, Riccia etc.
