  Even today there are accidents at construction sites, mines and factories

                          because of the callous attitude of the employers.







               Enforcement of Safety Laws-:
                     The government is supposed to ensure that safety laws are implemented.

                     It is also the duty of the government is ensure that the Right to Life (Article 21)

                       of the Constitution is guarantees.


               Safety laws violation in the Union Carbide Plant -:
               (I) – The safety laws were weak in India.

               (II) – These weak laws were not even enforced.

               (III) – The government officials refused to recognize the plant as hazardous.
               (IV) –They allowed it to come up in a populated locality.

               (V) – When some municipal officials objected to the installation of the MIC plant the
               position of the government was that it needed the investment and the jobs it created.

               (VI) – It was unthinkable to have cleaner technology and safer producers.
               (VII) – Government inspectors continued to approve the procedures of the plant even
               when repeated incidents of leak had happened.
