                        secularism works. 24

               Ans.
India is a secular state means that the state does not
support any one religion nor is it ruled by any religious
                        group.

                        1. The state uses the strategy of distancing itself from
religion. In India government spaces like law courts, police
stations, government schools and offices are not supposed
                        to promote any one religion.

                        2. It follows the strategy of non-interference. This means
that in order to respect the sentiments of all religions and
not interfere with religious practices the state makes
certain exceptions for particular religious communities. E.g.
The Sikhs wear turbans and so need not wear a helmet.
