               Endocrine glands and their functions

Endocrine glands produce chemical substances called hormones which control different
               functions in the body.
               The main endocrine glands are:-

Pituitary gland, Thyroid gland, Adrenal gland, Pancreas, Testes and Ovary.

 Pituitary gland: - Pituitary gland is attached to the base of the brain. Controls
growth and production of hormones by testes and ovary.it is also known as the
master gland as many of the hormones which it secretes, regulate the activity of
                       other endocrine glands.

A person with deficiency of growth hormone in childhood remains very short and
becomes a dwarf while a person having excess of growth hormone becomes very tall.
