Fertilisation
The process of fusion of male and female gamete is called fertilisation.
In this process, the motile sperm or the male gamete move and reaches near the non
motile ovum or the female gamete.
Out of many sperms only one sperm fuses with ovum.
In this process the nuclei of sperm and ovum fuse and form the zygote.
Gametes contain half the number of chromosomes found in parents.
Zygote contains complete set of chromosomes or same numbers of chromosomes the
parents have.
Fertilisation takes place in oviduct of females in humans.
Zygote is the first cell of new organism to be produced and this single cell grows in to a
complete baby in future.
