Roots of trees hold the soil, so deforestation leads to soil erosion. The top layer of the
               soil is rich in nutrients and supports the growth of plants. Plants do not grow due to
               removal of top layer of soil by soil erosion. The fertile land becomes barren land called
               desertification.

               4. Increases incidence of flood


               Roots of the plants facilitates the movement of water from the surface of soil to ground
               (Infiltration rate of water). Due to deforestation the infiltration rate of water decreases
               and water gets accumulated on surface. So increases the incidence of flood.


               5. Animals loose their natural habitat.

               6. Balance of nature gets disturbed.
