Q. 2. Write the following numbers in the usual form:
6
(i) 7.54 10 .
-4
(ii) 9.32 10 .
-12
(iii) 5.73 10 .
12
(iv) 3.485 10 .
6
Sol. (i)7.54 10 = 7540000
-4
(ii) 9.32 10 = 0.000932.
(iii) 5.73 10 -12 = 0.00000000000573
12
(iv) 3.485 10 = 3485000000000
EXAMPLE - 3
3. Write the following numbers in the standard form:
(i) 3470000
(ii) 768900000
(iii) 0.4579
(iv) 0.000345
SOLUTION :
(i) Clearly, 3470000 is more than 10, we have, 3470000.00.
Clearly, the decimal point is moved through six places to obtain a
number in which there is just one digit to the left of the decimal point.
6
Therefore, 3470000.00 = 3.470000 10 .
6
= 3.47 10 .
(ii) We have, 768900000 = 768900000. 00
8
= 7.68900000 10 .
8
= 7.689 10 .
