 Stock-The plant that has a well-developed and sturdy root system is used as
                       a stock

 Scion-The other parts of a plant (generally a shoot of the plant) which is
grafted on to the stock is known as the scion.

The two parts are placed in such a way that their vascular tissue joins together to
grow as a single plant. Such that, the plant has root sturdiness of the stock and
desirable qualities of the scion. Examples- Rose, apple, pear, and guava.

               3. Layering

 In this, the stem of the plant is bent to the ground and covered with soil.
 After sometime, roots start growing from the plant parts covered with the soil
and then separated from the original plants. This attached stem with
developing roots is known as a layer.

 This method is used to reproduce plants such as jasmine and croton.
