Buds or eyes Potato Potato is a modified
or tuber stem and has buds or eyes.
It is called as a potato tuber.
When a piece of potato
containing a bud is
planted into the soil,
it can grow into a
new potato plant.

Bulb Onion, Garlic, Lily, and Tulip Bulbs are underground
stems with thick fleshy,
scaly and succulent
leaves that store
food around the bud.

Rhizome Ginger and turmeric Rhizomes are underground
stems that have scaly
leaves at their nodes, buds,
and roots.

Corms Colocasia and Gladiolus The underground swollen
stem which helps in the
reproduction of plants.

Runner Grasses and strawberries In these plants, Shoots
develop from the sides
