a. The xylem vessels form a continuous network of channels with roots, stem,
leaves and branches of the plant through which water is transported.
b. The food is transported to all the parts of the plant by phloem.
Ascent of Sap
The upward movement of water and minerals from roots to different plant parts is called
ascent of sap.
Experiment to show that water moves up with the help of tube-like structures (tissues)

Translocation
• It refers to the movement of nutrients from leaves to the other parts of the plant.
• It is carried out by the phloem (sieve tubes).
