               Transportation in plants

               Transportation of water and minerals
 Plants absorb water and minerals from soil by the help of root hairs which
increases the surface area of the roots and transport to the leaves.
 Water is absorbed by the roots through a process called osmosis.

 The process of movement of water molecules from higher concentration region to
lower concentration region through a semi permeable membrane is known as
                       osmosis.
 A group of special cells (xylem and phloem) forming a well-developed transport
system that transports water, minerals and food to all the cells of the plants is
                       called vascular system.
