Lesson notes
Transportation in plants
Transportation of water and minerals
Plants absorb water and minerals from soil by the help of root hairs which
increases the surface area of the roots and transport to the leaves.
Water is absorbed by the roots through a process called osmosis.
The process of movement of water molecules from higher concentration region to
lower concentration region through a semi permeable membrane is known as
osmosis.
A group of special cells (xylem and phloem) forming a well-developed transport
system that transports water, minerals and food to all the cells of the plants is
called vascular system.
