Types of Circulation in the Heart
a) Pulmonary Circulation
• Carries deoxygenated blood from the heart to the lungs.
• In the lungs, carbon dioxide is removed and oxygen is absorbed.
• Then, oxygen-rich blood returns to the heart.
• Right side of the heart is involved.
•
b) Systemic Circulation
• Carries oxygenated blood from the heart to the rest of the body.
• Delivers oxygen and nutrients to body cells.
• Collects waste and carbon dioxide from the cells.
• Left side of the heart is involved.
Together, these two form Double Circulation
• Blood passes through the heart twice in one complete cycle.
• Ensures efficient oxygen supply and removal of waste.
