Adaptation - The adjustment or changes in the behaviour, physiology and structure
of an organism to suit an environment is known as Adaptation.
Different regions of earth-
Equatorial region- The region around the equator is known as the Equatorial
Region. This region is hot and wet throughout the year.
This region also experiences maximum sunlight, and hence this region supports a
variety of living forms.
Tropical region- The regions surrounding the equator are known as the Tropical
Region. The forest in tropical region is divided into rainforest, dry forests, grass
lands, coastal forests (mangroves).
Polar region - This region have extremely cold climatic conditions. Have very short-
lived plants because the spring season is very short there.
• The area of the earth that surrounds the North Pole and the South Pole is
called the Polar Region.
