                                                      LESSON NOTE


               Steps to Prevent water pollution:


               Pollution of water can be controlled in the following ways.

                     Industrial waste should be treated and rendered harmless before discharged
                       into water bodies.
                     Excreta of animals and human along with organic waste should be used in
                       biogas plant to produce manure of fuel.
                     Excessive use of chemical fertilizers and pesticides should be avoided and
                       replaced by bio-fertilizers and biopesticides.
                     Garbage should not be thrown into water bodies.
                     Both government and industries should take on the responsibility of cleaning
                       water bodies. Ganga action plan is one such plane taken up by the Indian
                       Government.
                     Sewage treatment plants should be built to prevent sewage mixing with water.
