Scouring:
Wool taken directly from sheep is called raw silk which contains dust, dirt, grease,
and fatty substance called lanolin etc. which needs to be washed with detergent
followed by acids or bases called scouring.
Sorting:
Removal of damaged or inferior wool from washed wool is called sorting.
Carding:
Separation of intermixed fibres from continuous fibres is called carding.
Making yarn:
Carded wools is twisted in to a rope called sliver. The sliver is stretched and twisted
in to a thin yarn. Making of yarn/thread from fibres is called as spinning which is
done by manual machine or power operated machine.
Weaving & finishing:
Woollen yarn is woven or knitted into fabric and then used to make finished product.
