        Fibres:


        A fibre is a thin strand like structure of a natural or artificial substance, especially one that are
        spun in to yarn or thread is woven or knitted into fabrics. From fabric finished products such as
        clothes, table cloths and bags etc.

        Types of Fibres: Fibres are of two types a) Natural fibres & b) Artificial fibres

        Natural fibres are of two types (i) Plant fibres &  (ii)Animals fibres.

        Plant Fibres:


        Plant fibres are thread like filaments and structural materials (cellulose) of plants they are obtained
        from various parts of the plants.


        Animal fibres: Animals: Animal fibre is made from protein. Wool & Silk are two natural fibres.

        Wool: wool fibre is obtained from the fleece or hair. Woollen clothes are used in summer time
        /season.

        Animals yielding wool: Wool fibres are obtained from sheep, goat, Angora rabbit and camels








                                                                                                                  .

        Sheep: Two types of hair are obtained from sheep from which wool is obtained.

        1. Outer hair is coarse in nature known as Kemp.


        2. The fine, soft under coat close to skin hair is called as true wool.

        Note: The Merino is an economically influential breed of sheep prized for its wool.









        Cashmere goat:

        Cashmere goats are found in mountain region of China and Tibet.


        Two types of hair are obtained from Cashmere goat from which wool is obtained called as
        cashmere.
