Ex: wooden surface, Carpets, cardboard

Suggested Activity
Take three rectangular cards of equal size. Make holes in the Centre of all the three
cards in such a way that they are at the same height. Now mount the cards on stands
so that the holes are placed in a straight line. Use a candle to flash light from one
exterior side of the card. You will be able to see the light from the other end passing
through all the holes. Now move the central card a little to one side and then try to see
the flash of light on the other side. This time the flash cannot be seen. This activity
verifies that light travels in a straight line.
