Assertion (A): Lotus and water lily plants have stomata on the upper surface
                      of the leaves.

Reason (R): Lotus and water lily plants are partly submerged plants.

               6 Name the following:
                          a) The environment where an organism lives and grows naturally.
                          b) Organisms that inhabit the surface of the land.
                          c) An amphibian with webbed feet.
               7 Give reasons:
                          a) An organism needs to adapt to its environment.
                          b) Leaves are ribbon-like in submerged water plants.

9 Penguins are the birds that are especially found in cold regions of the
Antarctic islands. The word or name ‘penguin’ is derived from two words i.e.
‘Pen’ means ‘Head’ and ‘Gwyn’ means ‘White’. Penguins are flightless birds
i.e. they cannot fly in the sky, instead, they can fly or swim fast deep inside the
seas and oceans with the help of their wings.

                           a) How is a penguin adapted to life in the polar regions?
                           b) Define adaptation.
                           c) Which other animals are found in the above habitat? (Any two)

10 Lions and deer are found in the grasslands. Both have remarkable speed.
What is the significance of speed in the grasslands?
