ADAPTIVE FEATURES OF FLORA IN THE GRASSLANDS –
i. Plants have a well developed deep root system.
ii. Presence of thin leaves to prevent water loss.
iii. The stalk of leaves is flexible to withstand strong wind currents.
ADAPTIVE FEATURE OF FUNA IN THE GRASSLANDS –
Deer
i. They have flat, broad, and strong molar teeth for chewing grass.
ii. Long intestine for digesting grass.
iii. Strong and muscular legs to escape from predators.
iv. Eyes are placed on the sides of their heads to look around cautiously.
Lion, tiger, leopard-Predator

TROPICAL RAINFORESTS-
• The climate is warm.
• It rains all most every day.
• The forest is dense and dark and the amount of sunlight is very low.
ADAPTIVE FEATURES OF PLANT S IN THE TROPICAL
RAINFORESTS –
• The leaves are grooved.
• They have drip-tips to allow excess rainwater to fall off. This prevents the
rotting of leaves due to water accumulation.
• The smaller plants have large leaves to absorb maximum sunlight.
ADAPTIVE FEATURES OF ANIMALS IN THE TROPICAL
RAINFORESTS-
• A large variety of animals are found in these forests. Hence, there is huge
competition for food.
• Animals have adapted to eat such food that is not eaten by another
animal.
• Most animals here live on trees and have developed strong arm muscles
to swing from one tree to another. Example the monkey.
• Animals camouflage themselves to escape from their enemies.
• Example- A stick insect looks like a small stick, a Leaf insect looks like a
leaf.
