               MOVEMENT IN HUMAN BEINGS

               Human beings –

                   • Walk, run and jump.
                   • They can move from one place to another- locomotion.
                   • They eat, laugh, talk and wave hands etc to show movement.
                   • They are called vertebrates- as they have a backbone present within the
                       body.
                   • They have an endoskeleton- Skeleton is inside the body.
                   • The skeleton and muscles are involved in both locomotion and movement.
                   • The bones are rich in calcium.

               THE HUMAN SKELETON

                   • The skeleton is the framework of the body and is formed by the bones .

                   • The skeleton of a normal adult human is made up of 206 bones.

                   • Apart from bones and muscles, cartilage, ligaments, tendons and joints also
form a part of the skeletal system.
