PHYSICAL CHANGE:
➢ The changes that occur only in the physical properties of a substance and no new
substance is formed.E.g., Change of state of matter, mixing of two substances, etc.
➢ During physical changes, the properties of a substance remain the same.
➢ Many times they are temporary and can be reversed. Melting of ice, heating of water are
such changes.
➢ Some changes are physical but irreversible. Plucking of leaves, tearing of papers, breaking
of glass are such changes.
➢ Characteristics of Physical Changes:
• No new substance is formed.
• There is no change in the internal structure of the given substance.
• They are usually temporary and can be reversed.
