Water pollution:
Water pollution occurs when a water body is adversely affected by the addition of
large amount of unwanted materials into it.
Following are the main causes of water pollution:
 Use of large amounts of Herbicide, pesticides and fertilizers by farmers in
their farms that are washed away by rain water into nearby rivers.
 Waste and sewage generated by factories can get into the water supply.
 Sewage generated by house which includes materials flushed out from our
bathrooms or waste water from bathing, washing and other household
activities may also pollute nearby water bodies.
 Littering on the land or on the water is an additional source of water pollution.
