Surface water:
Water present on the Earth’s surface in the form of oceans, river, Lake, pond
and stream is called surface water.
The water in rivers and lakes comes from rain and snow melting on mountains.
Some sources of surface water are also filled by underground aquifers.
Surface water accounts for 80% of the water we use.
Ice caps and glaciers:
About 70% of Earth's fresh water is locked in Glacier and polar caps.
The Siachen Glaciers in India in one of the glaciers.
Ocean water:
Almost all the rivers eventually flow into the ocean. Thus, river water is a
source of water for the oceans.
Ocean water make up nearly 97% of the entire water present on the earth.
It is not a viable source of potable water because it contains salt and other
impurities.
Common salt is obtained by the evaporation of sea water on a large scale.
