P. 2

Example 1: Atul takes 180 seconds to prepare a paper boat. How many
               minutes is that?

Answer: Time taken by Anil = 180 seconds

                          We know, 60 seconds = 1 minute.

                                      180 seconds = (180 ÷ 60) minutes

                        180 ÷ 60 gives quotient 3.

                        So, 180 seconds = 3 minutes.

Therefore, Atul takes 3 minutes to prepare a paper boat.

Example 2: Ranjita takes 150 seconds to swim 100 m. How many minutes is
               that?

Answer: Time taken by Ranjita to swim 100 m = 150

seconds We know, 60 seconds = 1 minute.

                                      150 seconds = (150 ÷ 60) minutes

                        150 ÷ 60 gives quotient 2 and remainder 30.

                        So, 150 seconds = 2 minutes 30 seconds.

Therefore, Ranjita takes 2 minutes and 30 seconds to swim 100 m.

Example 3: How many hours is 7825 minutes?

Answer: We know, 60 minutes = 1 hour.

                                      7825 minutes = (7825 ÷ 60) minutes

                        7825 ÷ 60 gives quotient 130 hours and remainder 25.

                        So, 7825 minutes = 130 hours 25 minutes

Therefore, required answer is 130 hours and 25 minutes.
