IMPURITIES IN WATER

 Water on the earth is mainly present in different water bodies such as
oceans, seas, lakes, ponds and rivers.

 However, we mostly use water from rivers, lakes and streams as water in

oceans and seas has a very high salt content. Water in water bodies is
replenished by rains.
 Water from rivers, lakes and streams contains mud, dirt, germs and sand,
because of which it cannot be used directly. These substances reduce the
quality of water and are called impurities.
