P. 3
EFFECTS OF FORCE
Force cannot be seen. The effect or result of force can be felt after it has been applied.
Force applied on an object can:
1. Move a stationary object. For example, when you push or pull a chair, it moves from its
place.
2. Stop a moving object. For example, when you catch a ball in your hands, it stops
moving.
3. Change the direction of a moving object. For example, while playing football, when a
player kicks the ball coming towards him, the ball starts moving in a direction in which it
is kicked.
4. Change the speed of a moving object. An object moving slowly can be made to move
faster by applying force and an object moving with speed can be made to slow down by
applying force.
