CHAPTER-9 NERVOUS SYSTEM
                                            Topic: Nervous system and brain

                Introduction to Nervous System

Like other systems in the body, the nervous system is composed of organs, principally the brain,
spinal cord, nerves, and ganglia. These, in turn, consist of various tissues, including nerve, blood,
and connective tissue. Together these carry out the complex activities of the nervous system. All our
activities and sense organs are controlled by the nervous system.

The nervous system has three main parts:
             Brain
             Spinal cord
             Nerves

                                                     NERVOUS SYSTEM

                         Brain Spinal Cord Nerves

               BRAIN:

 The brain is one of the important, largest and central organs of the human nervous system.
 It is the control unit of the nervous system, which helps us in discovering new things,
remembering and understanding, making decisions, and a lot more.
 It is enclosed within the skull, which provides frontal, lateral and dorsal protection.
 The Human brain has three main parts- cerebrum, cerebellum and medulla.
 The cerebrum is the largest part and is the seat of learning.
 Cerebellum coordinates the movement of the muscles and helps to keep its balance.
 The medulla joins the brain to the rest of the body. It controls involuntary activities of the
body like breathing, digestion and beating of the heart.
