PAST PERFECT CONTINUOUS TENSE

• It is used for an action that began before a

certain point in the past and continues up to that

time.

At that time he had been writing a novel for two

months.

 They had been talking for an over an hour

before the client arrived.

• ‘For five minutes’ and ‘for two weeks’ are both

durations which can be used with Past Perfect

Continuous.
