SUMMARY/NOTES
A woman finds a pot of full of gold on the road while she is returning from work.
Delighted with her luck, she decides to keep it. As she is taking it home, it keeps
changing. At first to her surprise she found that the gold had changed into a lump
of silver. Then again on checking after sometimes she found the lump of silver has
changed to iron . Again after sometime when she thought of resting for some
time and checked the iron pieces later turned into a stone. She was certain that
the pot was haunted. She was afraid. Suddenly a ghost appeared which had four
great lanky legs, two slender hands, and two flapping ears and a round tail. The
Bogey-Ghost tried to frighten her but she burst into laughter. She said that she
had never imagined that the thing which she was so scared of looked so funny.
Terrified by the strength of the woman, the Bogey- Ghost thought it best to run
away and find someone else to scare!
What Is Great About It: The old lady in this story is one of the most cheerful
characters anyone can encounter in English fiction. Her positive disposition
(personality) tries to make every negative transformation seem like a gift, and she
helps us look at luck as a matter of perspective rather than events.
